Long Bio (248 words) : Lucy Grabe‑Watson is a youth campaigner, writer, and ecological advocate working at the intersection of woodland protection, community engagement, and policy reform. As the founder of Ancient Woodlands UK, she leads a national movement to safeguard Britain’s ancient woodlands through youth‑led advocacy, legal innovation, and public education. Her work centres on the belief that conservation is not only a scientific or political task, but a relational one - rooted in care, agency, and the right of young people to shape the landscapes they will inherit.

Lucy has spent much of her life in forest environments, working directly with the ecosystems she now campaigns to protect. She has managed woodlands, led volunteer programmes, mentored young people in woodland ecology, and facilitated outdoor learning experiences that reconnect communities with the land. Her approach bridges grassroots action with strategic partnerships, bringing together local groups, national organisations, and policymakers to create lasting, systemic change.

Alongside her campaigning work, Lucy writes about ecological belonging, intergenerational stewardship, and the emotional and cultural dimensions of conservation. Her writing explores how people form relationships with place, and how those relationships can become a foundation for collective action. She is committed to making environmental work accessible, inclusive, and grounded in lived experience.

Through Ancient Woodlands UK and her wider advocacy, Lucy continues to empower young people to step into leadership with confidence and clarity. Her work reflects a deep commitment to protecting the UK’s most threatened habitats while nurturing a culture of care, resilience, and community‑led environmental action.
